SDN-OpenFlow Topology Discovery: An Overview of Performance Issues

چکیده
Software-defined networking (SDN) is an innovative architecture that separates the control plane from data to simplify and speed up management of large networks. This means logic has been moved network hardware level centralized level. Therefore, use OpenFlow Discovery Protocol (OFDP) one most common protocols used discover topology in a then transmit it for management. However, OFDP various shortcomings its performance such as exchanging too many messages between both levels (control data), which turn increases load on SDN-Controller. Additionally, since application layer depends entirely topologies plotted plane, very important obtain accurate information plane. after providing background discovery reader, we will concentrate issues. The present study identifies discuss primary concerns involved complex query process, infrastructure, influencing factors, challenges process. Furthermore, this paper several recent studies have overcome enhanced these In addition, open discussion future work concerning issues are also discussed.

BEADS: Automated Attack Discovery in OpenFlow-Based SDN Systems
We create BEADS, a framework to automatically generate test scenarios and find attacks in SDN systems. The scenarios capture attacks caused by malicious switches that do not obey the OpenFlow protocol and malicious hosts that do not obey the ARP protocol. We generated and tested almost 19,000 scenarios that consist of sending malformed messages or not properly delivering them, and found 831 uni...

and security, which calls for deep innovations on network protocols and infrastructures. However, the distributed controlling mechanism, especially the bundle of control plane and the data plane within network devices, sharply restricts such evolutions. In response, the software-defined networking (SDN), an emerging networking paradigm, proposes to decouple the control and data planes, producin...
متن کاملsOFTDP: Secure and Efficient Topology Discovery Protocol for SDN
Topology discovery is one of the most critical tasks of Software-Defined Network (SDN) controllers. Current SDN controllers use the OpenFlow Discovery Protocol (OFDP) as the de-facto protocol for discovering the underlying network topology. In a previous work, we have shown the functional, performance and security limitations of OFDP. In this paper, we introduce and detail a novel protocol call...
